Chess set in a wooden hinged case

A full chess set that folds down into its own travel case. Thirty-two carved wooden pieces, light and dark, tuck neatly inside a hinged wooden board that closes and latches shut with a small brass clasp, so nothing rattles loose or gets left behind between games. The board itself is bordered with the standard letter and number coordinates along each edge, the notation serious players use to record and study their games as they improve. Real wooden pieces with genuine weight and a proper board underfoot make for a much better playing feel than a folding cardboard set, while the compact closed case travels easily to a friend's house, a car ride, or a quiet corner of the house for a slower game. It's an easy way to introduce a lifelong game with equipment built to actually last through the learning curve. A classic, well-made chess set for aspiring strategists ages 7 and up.
