Responsibility for children means responsibility for their future.
We make toys for children — and we believe that also means caring about the world they will grow up in.
A tree for every newborn
For every child born in Schleswig-Holstein — Germany’s least forested state — we plant a tree. Since 2004, nearly 450,000 trees have been planted with the support of the Schleswig-Holstein state forests. Every year we give the state a new forest: vulnerable monocultures are turned into mixed forests with site-appropriate species such as Norway maple, sweet chestnut, silver fir, yew, service tree and wild cherry.
Schools instead of child labor
Education is the way out of poverty and child labor. Together with the children’s aid organizations terre des hommes and Kinder in Afrika, Gollnest & Kiesel has built ten schools — in Vietnam, Peru, Colombia, Mali, the Philippines and Uganda. Together with Arise e.V., we are also supporting a school in Kokrobite, Ghana.
Solar power
With our photovoltaic systems, we now generate more electricity each year than we consume at our own sites.
Wood — our most important raw material
Anyone who works with wood bears responsibility for the forest — that is why reforestation has been part of our company for more than two decades.
Fewer and better plastics
We avoid PVC, PU, ABS and PS wherever possible and are replacing them step by step with more environmentally friendly alternatives — choosing wood and natural materials wherever we can.
Recognized for our commitment

In 2024, Gollnest & Kiesel became the first toy company ever to receive the German Sustainability Award — recognized as a pioneer of transformation in the toys and leisure industry.
