Pair of maracas

Two rainbow-striped maracas, solid wood from handle to shaker, built for the simple joy of shaking something and hearing it answer back. Smooth wooden handles make them easy for small hands to hold and swing, and giving a child one for each hand naturally encourages using both sides of the body together, an early bit of coordination practice disguised entirely as fun. There's no wrong way to play them: shake fast for an energetic rhythm, slow down for something quieter, or simply match the beat of a favorite song playing in the background. Because they come as a matched pair, they're also an easy way to get two children playing music together, passing one back and forth or shaking along side by side. The bold rainbow coloring makes them as satisfying to look at as they are to hear, and their light weight means even a toddler can keep shaking well past when heavier instruments would tire them out. Sturdy wooden construction holds up to enthusiastic play. A joyful first instrument for ages 3 and up.
